Raze The Red Curtain…

6 Apr

There was The Iron Curtain and The Bamboo Curtain, now we have the Red Curtain…

All three have many things in common. Each was the outcome of an authoritarian government. Each was notorious for eliminating human rights. Each banned books and strictly controlled education. Each discriminated against minorities. Each restricted or eliminated voting rights. Each sought to control neighboring states. Each used lies and propaganda to indoctrinate their citizens.

And, the vast majority of Americans overwhelmingly saw each of the previous two as the ultimate threat to democracy and the Free World.

Our democracy is now in peril, we have to take back our country and eliminate the Red Menace threatening our freedoms. Vote no to the Far Right at every opportunity.

It doesn’t matter what they’re running for; local school boards, city councils, mayor, district judge, state legislatures, governor, state Supreme Court, House of Representatives, US Senate or President… Vote Like Our Future Depends On It… Vote Against Tyranny.

Wrong From The Start…

Among the most insane rulings from the Supreme Court is Citizens United. People are People, PACs and corporations are not; both are no more than a legal entity on paper. In addition, dollars have no rights of free speech, yet they “buy” elections every year.

I think we should repeal Citizens United and place stricter limitations on political donations and spending. I believe every citizen has a right to donate as they like, but with a limited amount and an equal amount to others. Just because a person has more money than you doesn’t mean they should have a louder voice with their political dollars.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Washington) has introduced s bill that would end corporate personhood with the goal of reversing Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the infamous Supreme Court decision that has unleashed a flood of corporate “dark money” into the U.S. election system, threatening to undermine democracy altogether.

“Corporations are not people and money is not speech,” Jayapal said in a statement. “In every election cycle since the disastrous Citizens United decision, we have seen more and more special interest dark money poured into campaigns across the country. My We the People Amendment returns the power to the people by finally ending corporate constitutional rights, reversing Citizens United, and ensuring that our democracy is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people — not corporations.”

PR and positioning galore. He’s criticizing everyone and everything, declaring his innocence and making a show of it all.

In this case and others to come, we might as well get ready for even more of his Spectacular Sh!t Show.

Oh What A Shame…. Or Should I Say SHAM

If you haven’t seen Lyndsey Graham’s pitiful plea for us to send our hard earned money to help a billionaire who’s gotten himself into legal troubles, take a look. I’m sure I can put my meager dollars to better use. It’s pathetic to say the least…

The Nashville Shooting Is Just The Latest In The Insanity Of Violence With Guns In America…

If it’s as the gun nuts say… “It’s not the guns, it’s the people” then don’t give the damn people the guns so easily.

We have to enact strict regulations, with in-depth background checks, extended waiting periods and limitations on the types of weapons and ammunition available to the public.

The Supreme Court is an embarrassment on this issue. The second amendment is very clear; a WELL REGULATED militia is WELL REGULATED. And, specifically for the originalist on the court… single shot muskets were the typical guns available not AK47s or anything similar.

New Slavery Comeback…

20 Mar

It’s not the same as pre-Civil War slavery, but just as evil, destructive and inhumane.

They won’t own you like chattel, but they’ll own your mind. In the old days, slave owners didn’t want their slaves to be educated. They didn’t want them to be able to think for themselves. They feared education would lead to freedom, so they only told them what they wanted them to know.

Even after emancipation, there were Jim Crow laws with segregated schools and voting restrictions that held the black community back and kept them under educated and “in control.”

Today, the slavers are still using laws, propaganda and education to control their slaves and further their agenda. The difference is… they want to control anyone who doesn’t hold to their ideology and fit into their culture; blacks, browns or whites… skin color doesn’t matter much.

They’re calling their slaves patriotic Americans and they say we are their enemies… we who stand for freedom and equality are the resistance, we are the WOKE.

How About ProLife After Birth

It’s perplexing, seems that many in the ProLife community don’t care very much about life after birth. Everyone deserves decent shelter, clothing, health care, education and food regardless of their station in life.

The pandemic waiver for free school meals, which launched in March 2020, expired at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year after a Covid-19 aid package allowed the Agriculture Department to waive certain regulations for the first time. The percentage of free lunches served dropped from 99.8 percent in May 2022 to 67.5 percent in September, according to data from USDA.

Data backs the benefits of universal free school meals. Schools that provided no-cost meals for all students, through the Community Eligibility Provision, saw academic and behavioral benefits for students who didn’t meet the income qualifications for free meals, according to research from Krista Ruffini, a Georgetown University professor who has studied universal free school meals and student achievement.

“We see that expanding the school meals program to all kids, regardless of their families’ income leads to improvements for kids and families,” Ruffini said. “Math test scores go up, exclusionary discipline — basically out-of-school suspensions — go down and the use of food bank services also falls.”

Some Decisions Are Just Tough, Unpopular Give And Takes…

The Biden administration said Monday it is approving the huge Willow oil-drilling project on Alaska’s petroleum-rich North Slope, a major environmental decision by President Joe Biden that drew quick condemnation that it flies in the face of the Democratic president’s pledges to slow climate change.

The announcement came a day after the administration, in a move in the other direction toward conservation, said it would bar or limit drilling in some other areas of Alaska and the Arctic Ocean.

Administration officials were concerned that ConocoPhillips’ decades-old leases limited the government’s legal ability to block the project and that courts might have ruled in the company’s favor.

Houston-based ConocoPhillips will relinquish rights to about 68,000 acres of existing leases in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.
