Slavery Provided Personal Benefits, My Ass…

25 Jul

One White Man’s View…

Slavery was far from some kind of humanitarian effort by white people to uplift blacks. Anyone who believes that pile of crap is blind to the actual practice of slavery.

Make no mistake, if they were taught any “trade”, it absolutely wasn’t meant to benefit the slave; it was to benefit the master. Ultimately, slave labor was used to either save or produce money for the “owner.”

Of course there were slaves that served as more than field hands. Some were overseers, wagon drivers, or blacksmiths, and some were cooks, housekeepers, wet nurses and child caregivers. Many were designated as breeders, meant to produce offspring (free labor) for the slave owner. In any case, all of the trades and task performed by slaves were to benefit the master.

And while slavery (in terms of ownership) did finally end, the imposed subservient position of black Americans has endured for decades. To many, blacks weren’t even considered second class citizens. They have been persecuted, segregated, discriminated against, beaten and lynched; in most cases for nothing more than the color of their skin.

When teaching critical race theory is challenged and eliminated from public education, we are whitewashing actual American history for the benefit of white America’s guilt.

Ok, so no American actually owns another human being today, but the lasting impact from slavery is still obvious in this country. As a whole, blacks are still educationally, socially and economically disadvantaged. White America should feel guilty and our children should be exposed to the sins of racial discrimination.

As a wise young Jewish girl once said, “What’s done can’t be undone, but at least you can keep it from happening again” (Ann Frank “The Diary of a Young Girl” 1947).

Black lives do matter… and we shouldn’t erase history, we should learn from it and strive to do better and never let the worst of it happen again.

Dump Dumb Senator Tuberville

Tommy Tuberville Failed Coaching At Auburn…

“Tuberville was forced out because he [had] been frustrating Auburn’s fans, powerful boosters, and administration with his machinations for years….

Because they all knew that so long as Tuberville stayed in Auburn, he would never be a threat to build a dominant program. (The squealing was loudest, incidentally, from the newspapers that cover the Georgia Bulldogs, who wanted Tuberville right where he was for fear that Auburn would hire someone better.

Tuberville is the perfect coach to have at your rival…someone who wins just enough to make it impossible to fire him, but not enough to beat you when you are really good and have a shot at contending for a conference or national title.)”

Next Tommy Tuberville Failed In Business…

“[Tuberville] was mired in business failings by a lawsuit and even a questionable charity that [raised] money but [gave] very little away…

In 2014, Tuberville started the Tommy Tuberville Foundation, which has given only a small portion of its money to charity while spending tens of thousands of dollars to stage annual golf tournaments….

A hedge fund Tuberville helped start in 2009 was the subject of a criminal investigation in which Tuberville’s business partner pleaded guilty to fraud. Tuberville, who denied wrongdoing, later settled a lawsuit filed by investors who lost millions.”

And Now Senator Tuberville…

“Sen. Tommy Tuberville ran for office while arguing for the “rule of law” and criticizing China — but in less than eight months on the job, the Alabama Republican [broke] a federal financial transparency law, while also selling stock options of China’s leading e-commerce company…

The trades ranged in total value from $894,000 to more than $3.5 million, according to the report filed Friday. The report lists values in ranges, not in absolute terms…

A review by The New York Times found that Mr. Tuberville, [who had] a history of involvement with at least three people who were later convicted of financial fraud in what were described as Ponzi schemes. Mr. Tuberville was largely seen as a victim and was never charged with a crime.

The review raised questions about Mr. Tuberville’s judgment and financial acumen. While he has said on the campaign trail that he hoped to serve on the “banking finance” committee — the Senate has separate, and prestigious, banking and finance committees — he has at times undercut his own qualifications. In regards to an ill-fated hedge fund venture, he once told a reporter, “I’m not smart enough to understand all the numbers.”

WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters)

“Republican U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville on Tuesday said white nationalists are racist after having denied that earlier in the day, an incident that drew criticism from the chamber’s top Democrat, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer…

The Alabama senator’s earlier comments defending white nationalists were not the only controversy involving him on Tuesday…

“Democratic President Joe Biden’s nominee to become the top U.S. general earlier in the day warned that Tuberville’s blockade of military promotions in a protest over abortion policy could have a far-reaching impact across the armed forces…

Tuberville, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has refused to confirm officer positions since the start of this year, citing his disapproval of the Pentagon’s 2022 decision to support service members and their families in traveling out of state to receive an abortion.”

To many, he’s an embarrassment to the state of Alabama and the USA, plus a pitiful excuse of a Senator.

I really miss past Senator Doug Jones.
